My Experience. Study abroad
Peaceful greetings,
My name is Debora Dongoran, I came from Indonesia precisely from Nommensen HKBP University, Medan, North sumatera to join student exchange program at Providence University, Taiwan. That day on the 15th of februari me and my two colleagues arrived at Taoyuan Airport. First up to the airport, I still remember the person holding the symbol of Providence University. They used red clothes with the logo of the IFB. They were the first people to pick us up at the airport. They are OIA Managers and IFB members who became friends and place to complain during their stay at Providence University.
I want to share experiences for 4 more months I live here. Many experiences and stories that I get here, ranging from useful knowledge, new friends, new families, facilities and comfort and order. I took the International Business Administration Course at Providence University. Every day I am preoccupied with lectures and duties that accumulate. Everyday studying china language, doing other tasks and subjects. I carry 25 credits in this semester, 10sks Chinese language and the rest from the department of International Business Administration. In fact the school is very good. Starting from experienced lecturers, clean environment, safe cool, neat and beautiful, sophisticated technology, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure. The employees who work also always serve well.
My first experience a few days after arriving in Taiwan, I had difficulty in language, culture and custom here. Especially how to order food in Chinese, it's no wonder I use body language to point and choose the foods I want to order. Not infrequently from the shop owner can speak english and it really helped me. Here they use chopsticks to eat. And I can not use it at all, the taste of the food they serve is also very different from the taste of food in my country, they do not like spicy, but the spicy taste is my favorite. I need 2 weeks to bias my tongue with the taste of food here. But after 2 months I was so heartily fed, and my weight was drastically up. My favorite foods are mushrooms, stinky tofu, duck noodles, duck rice, and vegetables.
The first time I went to college, I noticed that my classmates were very similar because they had the same skin and crisp eyes, so even though I was acquainted I had a hard time remembering them and remembering their Chinese name. They are very friendly and helpful. In Taiwan I also meet many acquaintances, ranging from brothers and sisters d Church, friends who come from other countries. In fact I feel that I already have a close family here, because they have helped me a lot and they are very kind to me.
Providence University is my favorite campus, my friends here are all my best friends, also teachers and OIA staff also my best friends.
The last few days many friends gave me letters, photos, greetings, post cards, gifts as a farewell. This means we will split up because of different distances and locations. One week I was really upset and faced a dilemma because I had to come back after I felt comfortable here. But separation is not the end of everything. I promise to come back to Taiwan someday, I will remember their kindness, goodness of taiwan and all the beautiful moment here. I plan next year will seek scholarships to study abroad, because in fact next year in April I will graduation. And I intend to go to college again to get a master's degree.
Farewell is not a wound, or sadness, we just need to greet farewell or warm hugs, wave hands, and congratulate three. Because where there is a meeting there is a breakup.
For all the good people I met in Taiwan, especially OIA staff, IFB, Master, My Brother Rachmad Dongoran thanks for your motivation to me so far, brothers and sisters in Shalu Church, Brothers and sisters in Hualien church, my best friends, my sisters, Ming-Rong, Abby, Chan Yu-Ting, Vini, Mega, Ai Susan, my Seniors from Indonesia, Cici Hana, my friends in chinese language classes and all that I can not mention one by one, Thanks for your kindness. And my beloved school Providence University, my room (my palace) 4436 dormitory always in my heart. I hope Jesus always bless us all.
Poetry for all of you:
Travel
Friends...
Sisters...
We've walked the steep road
Even if it must stumble and fall
We've got rid of the thorns in the way
All that we have been through together
Our way of life may be different
But you are still my best friend
And now the separation is the one that will separate
Just pray and hold me warm for you
All I can give is probably for the last one
But .. Believe me ..
May our Father in heaven, Jesus christ reconcile us
For a happier tomorrow
I will continue to miss you
Do you remember when we were together at Providence University?
Those moments I actually found you
That you are half of my life in Taiwan
Only through this poem can I thank you
Thank you for all your kindness and sincerity
I will always remember it even though time will be different
May you always be in His protection
Companions, this life is nothing but a vast expanse of ocean
We are swimming and we dive into the depths
To find the oyster at the bottom, and we picked pearls
That there is always something meaningful in every presence and meeting
With the sincere ark of togetherness we sailed
To keep each other and trust each other
And now .. The moment where we have to go through time
The time when we should start forward
Go forward for something new hope
Maybe this time we'll split up
But all that is only temporary
Because I will come back and have to go back
Not just to remember and see
The ruins of the past with you
But because here is the land of my birth, in Indonesia
Where there are Mom and my closest people
And you are always in my heart.
